Ultrasound  Study
 Continues
Dr. Brem's study to determine if Automated Breast Ultrasound (ABUS) together with routine screening mammograms is more sensitive to detecting breast cancer in women with dense breast tissue is still on going.

Dense breasts are an independent risk factor for breast cancer and it is more difficult to image dense breasts with mammography alone.  This research may lead to important breakthroughs in better detection of breast cancer in women with dense breasts.

If you would like to participate in this study, please contact Dr. Brem's office at 202-741-3031.  For more information on this study please log onto www.bremfoundation.org.
You and your insurance company will be billed for the mammogram.  There is no cost for the ultrasound scan.

Many thanks to Rosemary Laphen for sponsoring an inspiring

Event sponsor Rosemary Laphen and Dr. Brem
educational event at River Bend Country Club on October 2.  The crisp fall air added to the invigorating energy in the room of 95 women.  Dr. Rachel Brem informed the audience that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer.  Washington, DC has the highest breast cancer death rate of any other city in the United States.  Dr. Brem urged every woman to get annual digital mammograms and to be their own advocate by making sure your mammograms are read by an expert in breast imaging.  Ask who is reading your mammogram.  Dr. Brem said that the national death rate for breast cancer has decreased by 23% due to better medicine and better screening.
