Education & Community Outreach
Three wonderful Brem events have taken place so far this year with Dr. Brem as keynote speaker. Several hostesses in Montgomery County, Maryland and Great Falls, Virginia hosted gatherings. Over 100 men and women attended each of these events that were very informative and raised much needed funds to help women in need. Thank you to the hostesses at Riverbend Country Club for inviting guests to Lunch & Brem in Great Falls and the hostesses at the two Norbeck Country Club Brunch & Brem events in Rockville, Maryland. Collectively, the events raised over $22,000.

The Foundation also thanks the ladies of Old South Country Club in Calvert County, Maryland who, for the second year in a row, chose Brem Foundation to be the beneficiary of their Ladies' Opening Day fundraiser. In a beautiful ballroom decorated in pink and orange, Dr. Brem spoke about her latest research and the importance of the Brem Biopsy Fund that helps women who would not receive assistance otherwise. George Washington University Medical Center's Mammovan was on-site at Old South for the ladies to tour. The event raised $10,000.

Biopsy Fund
During the first six months of 2010, Brem Foundation has been able to pay over $37,438 for women in need to get necessary biopsies and diagnostic procedures.
Information provided by Dr. Brem and her staff made the board aware that many women who require mammograms and other diagnostic procedures are turned away on a daily basis due to insufficient insurance or the lack of insurance. Through Dr. Brem's guidance, the Foundation will begin financially supporting women who qualify and are in need of procedures in addition to necessary biopsies. With your help, the Foundation is helping more women in need in the Washington, DC area.

Jody Goldkind named Event Chair
After helping the Foundation over the past several years make our
Dr. Brem & Jody Goldkind | Montgomery County brunches more successful by adding her event planning and decorating expertise, the Brem Foundation's board of directors is happy to announce that Jody Goldkind has agreed to chair the Foundation's Event Committee. Jody has over 25 years of party planning experience. Jody will work with Foundation president, Sue Apple, on all Community Outreach brunches and fundraisers. Thank you, Jody!

Judy Stone named Website Chair

has agreed to take on the newly created position of Website Chair. Judy created and maintains the Brem Foundation's website. Judy's excellent and continuing contribution to the Brem Foundation website has been an invaluable part of breast health education and outreach to our community and beyond. The website is a vital component to helping women at critical times that has saved lives and many sleepless nights. Judy is an artist, and graphic and web designer with her own company, Stone Graphics. Stone Graphics works with churches, schools, for-profit and non-profit organizations.  Thank you to all the federal government employees who designated Brem Foundation as their charity of choice for the 2009 CFCNCA campaign. Brem Foundation received over $29,000 in pledges!!! Professor of the Year
Dr. Brem recently said "Teaching is one of my favorite things". This passion was awarded last month with the Resident"s Choice Award Professor of the Year award 2009-2010 by George Washington University Interns.
