5 Simple ways to celebrate EarthDay
1. Plant a tree or protect one that has sprouted in your yard. Last year one of our maples was diseased. I told Bill to wait to cut her down she was spewing all these baby seedlings. Sure enough this spring I have 10 new babies. They all will not be able to be nurtured to full growth some being so close to the house. Does anyone want a free sugar maple? Just let me know.
2. Buy your annual flowers and bask in their beauty. I love my hanging baskets and love nurturing them to full blossom every year!
3. Donate to your local Nature center. Cincinnati Nature center is beautiful this time of year. I am actually going tomorrow with my Dad. We will hike the trail where volunteers put small posts up
4. identifying key wildflowers. This is such a favorite
past time for me especially the folklore. Did you know that the roots of Spring Beauty are edible and have been claimed to taste like candy?
5. Appreciate yourself. List 5 things you love about yourself for the next 21 days. Notice how it makes you feel. When you love yourself it is easy to love nature and other people.

MY awesome friend Hobie Hare!!
Hobie Hare connects people with the serenity, security and power of nature through photography, writing, editing, guiding and more. A former National Park Service ranger in Yellowstone and an experienced educator, Hobie lives in Missoula, Montana, and enthusiastically inspires and serves others as a freelance writer, editor and educator for a wide range of projects, retreats and other endeavors.
www.wildharephotos.com is Hobie's primary website for displaying and selling his nature greeting cards and larger prints, and he also co-owns and operates www.yellowstonestories.com, where Yellowstone lovers from all over share stories, insights, observations and photos from the world's first national park. Three reputable commercially permitted Montana-based companies Hobie guides with are listed under his bio at www.yellowstonestories.com and on his blog at http://yourlifenature.wordpress.com Hobie is available for custom as well as package tours via these companies, and his images are also available for custom and commercial purposes. We hope to have Hobie come on board in the future with EarthJoy in a joint venture or other capacity at some point, so stay tuned, and in the meantime, learn more by visiting him and his work at the above links. |
