Greetings!
If you haven't noticed yet, I am having a l♥ve affair.... with trees! I love when we first meet a new tree. It is just like getting to know a Physical Therapy client for the first time. I am not the typical therapist or tree evaluator. I don't get out my tapes and measuring tools right away and start prodding and pruning. NO! I sit and observe. I ask questions and what I d♥ is listen all the while pretending to collect the basics, the strength, and integrity of its trunk and limbs, scars and surgeries and what I am most interested in is who is this person/tree? The first meeting is just the beginning of our relationship. The next time I may sit and just listen and observe their movement, waiting for a connection, an entry point.
The m♥st intimate part is when we start to climb and get to know one another. I go slooooowwwwww. You will see me, I stop, observe, listen, climb, st♥p, observe, listen, climb, on & on. I am cultivating trust. A trust that is deepening in the tree and myself, and vice versa. The relationship does not end when I leave. I think about the tree in my car, and before I go to sleep. It stays with me.
Who is the one pers♥n in your life you need to listen to? Is it y♥urself? How can you spend more time doing that? Is it your daughter or son? I have implemented a practice that when I pick up my daughter I turn off my cell phone and just listen, the listening comes from my heart. You would be amazed at the things they share!
