This year has been my best year yet! WHY?? Because I have changed! I now clearly communicate and express my feelings and what I need! We have changed the way we do business and added marketing strategies that work. We did all of this by taking baby step action after baby step action towards building a foundation for EarthJoy! Has it been easy? No! And that is the good news. If it had been easy I wouldn't have changed!
What it takes to reach the top of the canopy compares to my life this year. Tree climbing is a baby step by baby step progression. Sometimes I take off and make 20 feet in 5 minutes only to find myself taking 20 minutes to reach the next twenty feet. Sometimes I will look up and think "Is it worth it?" And something deep inside of me without hesitation says "YES, this is your PURPOSE!!" Some days I am hesitating, contemplating, meditating as I climb, enjoying "being". Other days I have time constraints and notice my movements are daring and strong in order to get the job done! Still other days I am afraid and paralyzed, barely able to move. That is when I step back and ask How can I? For that is truly when I receive answers. These are the times I am being reminded the journey is really about partnering with a Higher Power/Universe/God because I and you can't do it by ourselves!!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS! Is tree climbing safe? Tree climbing is extremely safe. All instructors have taken the Basic, Facilitation and Instructor courses and have been climbing for at least 5 years. Other than a few blisters from rope abrasion (for those who refuse to wear gloves) there have been no injuries. All climbing trees are free of poison ivy. What if I'm afraid of heights? Climbers are never pressured to go any higher than they are comfortable. Once climbers begin to feel comfortable and secure on a rope, they will often move beyond their fear to achieve new heights. How hard is tree climbing? Extraordinary strength is unnecessary but you must be in decent physical shape, be able to hike about ¼ mile on uneven terrain and be able to climb at least three flights of stairs without stopping..... 6 Reasons Climbing is Valuable!!
As a Licensed Physical Therapist I know the value of staying active. I see it everyday. The 90 year olds that have made (1) physical exercise part of their life and the 70 year olds that did not!! The 90 year olds are still hiking the woods, tending to gardens and on NO MEDS! The 70 year old is on 10 different meds and barely able to make it out of bed!
Michael More of Ohio sums up the other five reasons from his experience at our Hocking Hill playground. "...Carol and I are still "hovering above the ground" in our excitement over Saturday's EarthJoy adventure. The experience was one of our best, and we'll never forget it and definitely do it again! As (2) adventurous people we are always looking for our next adrenaline "rush" and the tree climbing experience was definitely a rush! It was a wonderful day, in beautiful surroundings, (3) shared with interesting people....I loved the technical aspects of the apparatus and the "climb" and (4) felt a connection with the trees that is typically missed by simply hiking through the forest. EarthJOY opened my eyes to the (5) trees as partners, by allowing me to experience the exhilarating (6) fun, and the (bonus) protective embrace they provided." |
