The Economic Development District Board approved the criteria and selection process for the 2012 Public Works Prioritization rankings.

The EDD annually identifies the top economic development related public works projects in the region and submits this ranking to the Economic Development Administration for potential funding.

The criteria include: jobs, support for regional transportation and growth management policies, private investment, benefits to distressed communities, local support, and readiness to proceed. The Public Works Prioritization Process will start in March. The EDD will finalize the rankings at its May meeting. Watch the discussion at psrc.org.

The EDD Board provided preliminary approval of the 2012 Prosperity Partnership Action Items.

The 12 draft action items include development of a new Regional Economic Strategy, increasing support for higher education, reducing barriers for transitioning veterans into civilian jobs, and developing the BETI Center and Demonstration Network. After the update of the Regional Economic Strategy is completed, the Board will be asked to reaffirm the action items, to ensure they implement and reflect the goals in the new strategy. The next step in the update process is the release of the revised draft Talent Report and first draft of the Economy Report in January.
