The Executive Board authorized a change in project status from Candidate to Approved for two Sound Transit projects in Transportation 2040.
The two projects are related to extending Link Light Rail 1.6 miles south of Sea-Tac Airport to South 200th Street, including a park-and-ride facility at the new station. This action allows Sound Transit to move forward with construction contract procurement and may assist the agency's effort to secure a TIGER III grant. View the presentation slides or watch the lively discussion the action entailed.

The Executive Board learned about the Transportation Policy Board's progress in developing a recommended approach for prioritizing projects in Transportation 2040.
Transportation 2040 includes a commitment to better prioritize transportation investments to meet the objectives of the region's growth strategy. The Transportation Policy Board plans to draft its recommendation next month and to release the Prioritization Process for public comment on December 8, 2011. In spring 2012, the General Assembly is scheduled to take action on recommended prioritization methods, which are expected to be applied to projects during future updates to Transportation 2040.
