The Transportation Policy Board launched the creation of a Task Force to determine the policy direction for the 2012 project selection process for PSRC funds. PSRC adopts a policy framework every funding cycle to ensure PSRC funds are best directed to projects that meet the regional goals and priorities outlined in Transportation 2040, VISION 2040, and the Regional Economic Strategy. The PSRC Funding Task Force will be a subset of Transportation Policy Board members who will recommend how PSRC will select projects for funding in 2012. Watch the discussion on psrc.org. For more information, contact Kelly McGourty at 206-971-3601 or kmcgourty@psrc.org. The Transportation Policy Board is close to developing a recommended approach for prioritizing projects in Transportation 2040. Transportation 2040 includes a commitment to better prioritize transportation investments to meet the objectives of the region's growth strategy. The Transportation Policy Board plans to draft its recommendation next month and to release the Prioritization Process for public comment on December 8, 2011. In spring 2012, the General Assembly is scheduled to take action on recommended prioritization methods, which are expected to be applied to projects during future updates to Transportation 2040. Watch the discussion or view the presentation on psrc.org. For more information, contact Robin Mayhew at 206-464-7537 or rmayhew@psrc.org. In other business, the Transportation Policy Board: - Recommended authorizing a change in project status from Candidate to Approved for two Transportation 2040 projects: South Link, Sea-Tac to S. 200th Light Rail Extension and the S. 200th Street Park and Ride Project. Sound Transit presented the two projects to the board.
- Recommended a routine amendment to the 2010-2013 Regional Transportation Improvement Program to include six projects.
- Received an information item on the Regional Bicycle and Pedestrian Implementation Strategy update.
