The Transportation and Growth Management Policy Boards met jointly to discuss a proposed approach for prioritizing projects in Transportation 2040.

Transportation 2040 includes a commitment to better prioritize transportation investments in the future. Work is underway to develop the ways projects in the plan will be prioritized to best meet the objectives of the region's growth strategy.

In spring 2012, the General Assembly is scheduled to take action on recommended prioritization methods, which are expected to be applied to projects during future updates to Transportation 2040. Watch the discussion or view the presentation on psrc.org.

The Transportation Policy Board discussed the policy direction for the 2012 project selection process for PSRC funds.

For every funding cycle, PSRC adopts a policy framework to ensure PSRC funds are best directed to projects that meet the regional goals and priorities outlined in Transportation 2040, VISION 2040, and the Regional Economic Strategy.

Due to federal budget discussions, there is uncertainty as to how much federal transportation funding will become available for regional transportation projects in the pending funding cycle.

Next month, the board will continue its discussion on how to proceed on the next round of project selection for anticipated PSRC funding. Watch the discussion or view the presentation on psrc.org.
