The Economic Development District Board provided input to the update of the Regional Economic Strategy.

 

The data gathering process for the update to the Regional Economic Strategy is underway. The comprehensive analysis will include quantitative and qualitative data sources. Focus groups have been conducted throughout the region as part of the qualitative information collection. The analysis will also look at industry and occupational clusters, where they are located throughout the region, as well as the discrete components of each industry cluster. The Economic Development District Board welcomed Fred Holt from the University of Washington Center for Commercialization for a presentation on the center's technology transfer program.

 

The Center for Commercialization is committed to turning University of Washington research outcomes into products and services. Since 2005, the center has supported the commercialization of over 100 projects, provided comprehensive mentoring, and given over $4million in grants. New companies spun out by the center include Fate Therapeutics, EnerG2, MicroGREEN Polymers, and Farecast. View the presentation here.
