Brain Hero Video Says it All
| |
In light of the recent child abuse tragedies in Minnesota, our hearts go out to all families and children in our state and to all of you who work to protect children. We want to support the work all of us do to keep child abuse and neglect from happening in the first place as this work is so critically important. A new video from the Harvard Center on the Developing Child does a great job of illustrating how important it is to influence the healthy brain development of all children. The three-minute video depicts how actions by a range of people in the family and community can affect a child's development. You can view this video on PCAMN's new Videos Webpage here.

Bringing the Protective Factors to Life
2011 Regional Workshops and Strategy Sessions Please Register Online Here We have been talking a lot in Minnesota about Protective Factors that prevent child abuse and neglect from happening in the first place. In this workshop, we will dig into a strategy focusing on two of them: Increasing Parental Resilience and the Social-Emotional Development of Children. The strategy we will be sharing in this workshop to promote these protective factors is Understanding Adult Brain Science to Practice and Teach Emotional Intelligence. We will also take some time for you to share with us and one another about strategies that you are using in your communities to promote protective factors, what challenges you are facing, and what opportunities you see for the future. (See a list of the five protective factors we are focusing on here). All of you throughout the state are our partners in creating a prosperous future for Minnesota by nurturing the healthy brain architecture of our children. We hope you will join us for this in-person opportunity to learn and plan together. Cost: $20 (includes lunch) Please register online here. CEUs will be available.
