| Keys to Parental Resilience |
PCAMN's Parent Leadership Team puts together and distributes a newsletter to our Circle of ParentsŪ and Parent Leadership network called ParentPower. It is sent out six times per year, and it focuses on subjects that promote protective factors and help keep families strong. Our November issue was recently sent out, and many people responded favorably to the first article. We'd like to highlight this article below, and encourage you to join our ParentPower mailing list. Just send an email to pbennett@pcamn.org with the message "ParentPower Subscription". Let us know if there are any other parenting subjects you'd like us to cover in future issues.
Keys to Resilience: Transformation through Adversity Resilience is a common word and many of us have a sense that being resilient is a good thing. But what does resilience really mean? And how can being resilient benefit families and individuals, especially when faced with challenges in life?
Resilience can be defined as the capacity to rebound from adversity stronger and more resourceful. It's important not to equate resilience with competent functioning. Resilience is more than just "getting through" or coping with a challenging situation. Resilience involves positive transformation and growth that enables one to deal effectively with challenges. |
