| Radiothon To End Child Abuse |
PCAMN will be partnering with Omni Broadcasting for the 20th annual Radiothon To End Child Abuse. The Radiothon raises money to support child abuse prevention efforts and disseminates information to listeners about what everyone can do to help prevent abuse and neglect. This year, the Radioton will be joined by 14 counties surrounding the four Central and Northern Minnesota Broadcasting locations of Bemidji, Alexandria, Brainerd, and Wadena. The Radiothon starts on December 4th at noon and ends on December 5th at noon. Visit the Radiothon Website for more information. |

Free Community-Based Support Groups for Parents and Children A program of Prevent Child Abuse Minnesota, Circle of ParentsŪ, is a statewide network of parenting support groups open to all families in Minnesota. During weekly meetings, parents come together to exchange insights into common parenting challenges. All programs are free, confidential, non-judgmental, and designed to promote positive parenting. | Volunteer Needed |
Our Circle of ParentsŪ program, which offers mutual self-help support groups to parents throughout Minnesota, is looking for a volunteer office assistant for approximately four hours per month. Responsibilities will include: · Photocopying documents · 3-hole punching of documents · Putting folders of materials together · Using a postage machine to apply metered stamps · Folding newsletters, stuffing envelopes, and applying labels If interested, please email David Gonzalez, Director of Volunteer Services, at dgonzalez@pcamn.org. |

Contemporary Families: Formation, Function, and the Future on Thursday, December 4, 2008 Keynote speaker, Stephanie Coontz, is an internationally recognized writer, researcher and family historian. She will speak about issues facing today's families and provide a historical context to help us understand the changes in family life today. After Stephanie Coontz sets the stage for looking at the concept of family, you can choose from 12 breakout sessions focusing on contemporary family issues. Day on the Hill with the Joint Religious Legislative Commission is scheduled for February 3, 2009. Preparation will be at the River Centre starting with Registration and breakfast at 8:30 a.m. Participants will bus to the capital at 11:00 a.m. and have an opportunity to meet with legislators. Registration fee is $30 and morning keynote speaker is Dr. Ingrid Mattson, President of the Islamic Society of North America and professor of Islamic Studies at Hartford Seminary.
