This year we have a variety of accomplished speakers and tracks of workshops which will focus on child abuse and culture, parent leadership, healthcare professionals, self-care, and research. Annual Gala: An Evening for the Children, Wednesday April 23
 
Please join us for an exciting night of inspiration and fun as we enjoy a dinner and silent auction and hear from Judge William A. Thorne about his experience promoting child abuse prevention. Lending a Hand: The Wakanheza Project
 
The world premiere of this half-hour show broadcast on Twin Cities Public Television's Minnesota Channel (17) at 8:30pm on Saturday, April 12. The Wakanheza Project shows you how to reach out and help children, young people and families in moments of stress through simple acts of kindness and respect. Civic Parent Leadership Trainings in Duluth April 26
 
When parents are leaders, their potetial to effect change for themselves, their families, and their community is tremendous. This year-long series of workshops allows parents to recognize the kind of leader they are and how to get what they want for their families and communities. The first workshop will be on April 26 and space is still available. More information can be found on our website.
Annual National American Indian Conference on Child Abuse and Neglect April 21-23
 
This National conference will take place in Bloomington. Some of the conference goals are to explore the role ICWA plays in protecting our children and preserving our culture; reveal the latest and most innovative approaches to child welfare delivery; and to showcase successful collaborative relationships in Indian child welfare. MOAPP Conference: Broadening our Perspective, Refining our Approach

The MOAPP (Minnesota Organization on Adolescent Pregnancy, Prevention, and Parenting) conference offers two days of dynamic speakers, challenging workshops and multiple opportunites to network with Minnesota professionals committed to teen pregnancy prevention and support for pregnant and parenting teens. MN Association for Children's Mental Health Conference April 27-29
 
The MACMH statewide conference provides parents, caregivers, and professionals a unique opportunity to learn and share new information, state-of-the-art techniques, and strategies proven to be successful when working with children who have mental health needs and their families. This conference is the largest of its kind in the nation, includes 80 breakout sessions, and features nationally recognized keynote speakers. For more information or to register, click here.

Aitkin County: Rock Against Drugs 
Friday April 25 7-10pm
 
An evening of live classic rock, free to everyone! Free root beer and snacks at the Aitkin VFW, sponsored by the Kinship Youth Leadership coucil.

Seventh Annual National Citizen Review Panel Conference
May 21-23, St. Paul MN

Summer Food Service Program
 
This is a USDA child nutrition program administered by Minnesota Public Schools. Any nonprofit organization serving youth 18 and under may be candidates to participate as a sponsor or as a site under Minneapolis or St Paul Public Schools Nutrition Services. Anoka County Offers Mental Health Conferences for Professionals
 
May 6 is a conference for Early Childhood professionals titled "Building Strong Foundations: Early Childhood Mental Health." May 15 & 16 is a conference for mental health professionals titled "Why Diagnose Very Young Children?" CDC Releases Study on Child Abuse and Neglect
