Welcome to a celebration of 100 years of voting rights for California women! San Diego was only 61 years old but still played a vital role in the passage of this amendment in 1911. We hope you will find time to join us at one of the opportunities to learn more about this historic event!

A celebration of vibrant and exciting Arts and Culture on San Diego Bay provides an opportunity to directly interact with dozens of arts and cultural groups in one place, thru performance, workshops, demonstrations and exhibits.

and kicks off National Arts and Humanities Month. The promotion promises to showcase the diverse arts and cultural offerings available around San Diego. 

This inaugural event with feature more than 60 arts organizations!

Before we head to City Hall and to schools and libraries around the county, we invite you to join us in opening this new exhibit focusing on the passage of the California Voters' Rights Amendment in 1911 making California the 6th and largest state to grant women the right to vote.


Refreshments will be served.

Suffragists on the road lobby for the vote!
NOON AT CITY HALL
Join City Leaders at noon in the lobby of City Hall as we dedicate the new CALIFORNIA CENTENNIAL SUFFRAGE EXHIBIT
to the memory of San Diego Suffragists who helped to pass the California Voters' Rights Amendment on October 10th, 1911.

San Diego Suffragists played a major role in making this happen.  Come learn who they were and what they did to reach their goal.  A dramatic reading of the event will be included.

Refreshments will be served.

The 1911 theme  takes us back to an era in which most American women were not allowed to vote at all!   

 

Participants are encouraged to dress in historic clothing, popular food from the times will be served for dinner, music, dances and games will all reflect American life during the first decade of the 20th century along with The Sue Palmer Orchestra
