MAKING THE ALTAR The ofrendas, an offering of love and respect
for the souls of loved ones, are placed there. Various traditions include
placement of photos of the deceased, bread known as Pan de Muerto (Bread of
the Dead), water, and
other food items they might have enjoyed in life.
Ofrendas have also been known to include clothing, and personal
grooming items for the souls to freshen up with following their journey from
the afterlife. There is always an abundance of flowers, known as cempasúchil,
valued for their beauty as well as their pungent aroma. Also used, Calaveras
(skulls), are seen as a promise of afterlife, not as a depiction of death.
Please bring ofrendas and pictures of deceased women
who have been important in your life
Pan de Muerto and
champurrado/ hot chocolate for all those attending.WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AT THIS EVENT.
