"Dear Miss Breed" Saturday, May 23
Clara Estelle Breed, beloved librarian for 42 years, created San Diego's county-wide "Serra" lending system which we all enjoy today. She is most notably remembered, however, for the impact she had upon children she dearly loved. During World War II, over 120,000 Japanese were forced from their homes and possessions and placed into internment camps; Breed wrote letters to the children in those camps, and they wrote back. Join us on Saturday, May 23rd at 2pm for a showing the documentary film "Dear Miss Breed", a discussion of the "Dear Miss Breed" book and her impact on our community understanding. Free.
