Art Meets Real Life on Stage
Greetings!
Part of our mission at the Women's History Museum is to provide provocative cultural opportunities to our community. "He Said - She Said" an original theatre project, is such an opportunity. I hope you will join us on January 15th for the first part of the series (He Said) and mark your calendar for March 12th for the counterpoint (She Said). I know you will enjoy yourself and certainly gain some new insights into this gender thing through the work of two of America's most influential writers of short fiction.
Best regards, Ashley Gardner

| January 15th , 7:30pm JOIN US FOR A NIGHT OF MEANINGFUL THEATRE WITH THE WORKS OF RAYMOND CARVER
"What We Talk About When We Talk About Love and Other Modern Dilemmas" adapted from Raymond Carver's "Where I'm Calling From" by Federico Moramarco and produced by Laterthanever Productions.
Raymond Carver (1938-1988) one of America's icons of the short story has been systematically approached as a minimalist, a dirty realist, an essentialist, a humanist, etc. And still, was Carver a proto-feminist writer?
Based on stories from Carver's posthumous collection, What We talk About When We Talk About Love and Other Modern Dilemmas is a world premiere of Carver's work on stage. Each story in this suite of three one-act plays deals with two couples and the intersecting tensions between them. Although the stories were all written in the 1980's, the plays are set in the 70's, 80's and 90's. Directed by Glynn Bedington and Federico Moramarco.
$25 Ticket reservations for the night of January 15th include a Women's History Museum Members Reception prior to the play.

| March 12, A memorable night at the theatre with the works of Grace Paley
"ACTS OF FAITH"
Grace Paley (1922-2007) was a writer and social activist who explored the lives of ordinary women in her punchy, poignant short fiction.
A world premiere, Acts of Faith, tracks the shifting patterns of love, identity, and creativity across a woman's life cycle through the story of Faith, a single major character who appears repeatedly in The Collected Stories of Grace Paley. Tracing conflicts in Faith's life from her 20's through her 50's as she struggles to define herself both as a woman and as a writer, Acts of Faith explores the shifting dynamics of sexual politics and intimacy in the last half of the 20th century. Directed by Sharyn Blumenthal.
$25 Ticket reservations for the night of March 12th include a Women's Museum Members Reception prior to the play.

This regional theatre group, founded by retired SDSU Professor of English Literature, Federico Moramarco and former SDSU Women's Studies Professor Kathleen Jones, produced "Hannah and Martin" in 2006 to great acclaim. Laterthanever Productions brings us this thought-provoking two part series that challenges audiences to think while examing love, relationships and roles among men and women. (And it's about time). We are proud to be a part of this important production.
