Celebrate Evelyn Clarke's life, and the women who changed the lives of our daughters and granddaughters,
Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, 2-5 pm.
The list of San Diego women and men who have fought for the rights of women is long. Evelyn Clarke recorded that history and those individuals and landmark campaigns with her camera. Evelyn's pictorial history is remarkable, because when she wasn't stuffing envelopes, writing newsletters, or being the steady hand of support for the National Women's Political Caucus, and the YWCA, she was snapping a retrospective of San Diego's feminist heroines. A force behind the scenes, Evelyn wanted no memorial services, but we offer a celebration that she would have appreciated: A celebration honoring our friends, mentors, candidates and elected officials who have had our backs, spoken, sacrificed, supported, and cared for women through the eyes of Evelyn Clarke.
Please bring something to share that can be displayed in honor of Evelyn and our sisters and brothers - a cherished picture, bumper sticker, button, poster-it will be part of our legacy and housed at the Museum. |
