Donate Now & Double Your Impact!
|
Do you spend $25 on a
nice meal out, or evening at the bar? For Growing Hope, $25 builds one
raised vegetable bed for a low-income family, helping families eat healthier year after year. Right now, each $25 donation to GH can let us build two raised beds. Thanks to musician Jack Johnson's All At Once Campaign
the Jack Johnson's Ohana Charitable Foundation will dollar for dollar
match any donations we receive before July 20th-- up to $2500! Make sure to write "All At Once" on the memo line of your donation. Please make a contribution now so we can leverage up to $5000 to keep growing healthy communities!
Would you like to help us in this campaign to leverage this matching
support via facebook cause donations or among other social networking sites! If so please get in touch and let us know!

Celebrating Dan Carroll!
Our June Volunteer Of The Month is the go-to guy for spring projects!
| | Whether building raised bed kits, light stands for the Seed Starting Squad, installing home gardens for low-income participants, or helping harvest at the Growing Hope Center, Dan Carroll h as been one of our go-to volunteers this spring. His initiative and follow-through make our hearts swell in joy, as well as his dedication--Dan has already logged over 75 hours so far in 2010! Volunteer Coordinator Jeremy Sobczak presented Dan with a strawberry plant as a token of our appreciation at our Seventh Birthday Party--a small gesture for a BIG thank-you!

West Willow Kick-Off!
Summer Garden Program Opens
| | This past Tuesday we launched our second Nutrition Based Gardening Program in partnership with the New West Willow Neighbo rhood Association and Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation! Growing Hope VISTA members and staff are working with youth ages 5-17 every Tuesday and Thursday to help them learn where food comes from and how to grow and eat healty fruits and vegetables. Youth participants plant and harvest their very own crops, many for the first time! We kicked-off our first workshop this week when 12 campers joined us to plant seeds in hand made newspaper pots and then had a chance to try a handful of delicious edible sunflower seeds. The first day was a wonderful success and we are looking forward to a great summer full of fresh, home grown produce and fun!
