Growing Hope Spring Plant Sale! 
Rain or shine!  Growing Hope Center, 922 W Michigan Ave

Join us this Friday, April 30th, 4-8pm at the Growing Hope Center for the kickoff of our Spring Plant Sale extravaganza. 

The sale continues Saturday, May 1, wholefoods10am-4pm.  We'll be selling a variety of veggie & herb seedlings, edible container gardens and raised bed kits.

Still not ready to put things in the ground by Mayday? Stop by our Spring Plant Sale 2.0 on Saturday, May 15th, 10am-4pm after you've participated in Ypsilanti PRIDE in the morning.

We'll also have seedlings (as well other vendors, too) beginning May 4 every Tuesday at the Downtown Ypsilanti Farmers' Market.
Growing Hope's 7th Birthday Party!
Please share in our 7th Birthday celebration Sunday, May 23rd, 1-4pm.  We want to thank to all of our supporters over the past seven years.  Our work wouldn't happen without you!
Our Birthday Party is a family-friendly event--a chance for tours and springtime activities at the Growing Hope Center.  Join us for cake, music, garden demonstrations, a sand castle building contest and Silvio's Pizza made fresh in our adobe oven!   RSVP now!

There will also be an eclectic silent auction featuring goods and services from our vibrant community!

Free Raised Bed Installs
For the second year we're offering Free Raised Beds Installs and free seedlings to low-income and no-income households.  wholefoods
In exchange, participants will weigh & track their harvests.  We're excited to install raised bed gardens with 40 more households this spring in the Ypsilanti area-- building on the 80 households who received them in 2009! 

To apply, fill out the Growing Gardens application for individuals/ households, and we'll be in touch
to let you know if you're selected! 

If you'd like to volunteer to help with these Installations, start with filling out our Volunteer Application.  We'll be having a training on May 5, and begin installs that weekend!
Community Garden Plots Available
in Parkridge Park!

The Perry Learning Garden in Parkridge Park is being rebuilt into
a community garden. Raised bed plots will be available

for individuals, families or groups who want to grow their own food.  Local residents, youth, religious & service groups are welcome!

Download the application on our Find A Garden page if you are interested having a plot or apply to volunteer to help with the rebuild or become a volunteer steward at Perry. The new Perry Community Garden will reopen, Saturday May 15th during the Ypsi Pride Celebration!

Growing Hope by the Numbers!
17 vendors offered fresh produce, cheeses, baked goods, crafts and more to almost 200 attendees at the Farmers' Market Pre-Season Kickoff!  Customers spent $1500 that day, showing their commitment to buying fresh & local!

18 enthusiastic gardeners attended our recent Growing Gardens mini courses on Starting & Reneergizing Community or School Gardens.  liz_maggie

23 energetic volunteers joined us this past Saturday at our Growing Hope Center Volunteer Day! We cleaned the grounds and potted hundreds of seedlings.

Farmer Dan Update!
Former Growing Hope Farm Manager, Daniel Bair, is working to manage St. Joe's Hospital new farm and hoophouses and to operate their farmers market. The vegetables grown at St. Joe's will be used in the hospital cafeteria and for patient meals, and also sold at a farmers' market.
