Seed 2 Plate After-school Clubs
Getting kids growing one plant at a time!
Growing Hope is partnering with U-M Cardiovascular Center's Project Healthy Schools for the second year of its 'Seed 2 Plate'  weekly after-school program. Starting in February, students at East and West Middle Schools in Ypsilanti will get the oppseedortunity to garden, cook, and learn more about nutrition and local food production.

Participants will take field trips to the Growing Hope urban farm, as well as the Downtown Ypsilanti Farmers' Market.

The program will meet Tuesdays at West MS and Wednesdays at East MS. Contact Gabe Tilove (gabe@growinghope.net) for more information about participation and volunteer opportunities.

The Seed 2 Plate Program is seeking volunteers to help, volunteers are especially needed on Wednesdays. More information and available times are available at

Community & School Garden Development Institute is Off the Charts!
Our garden training program is growing exponentially--this year we recruited a whopping 14 teams from all over Washtenaw County ready to develop or expand their community, school, or congregational gardening efforts!  The first night of our Community School Garden Developmenthope's harvest image Institute (CSGDI) 73 people attended--that's more than double the amount we normally have!

The feedback so far has been positive and we are learning a lot from the experience that our participants bring.  We are looking forward to our remaining sessions with this year's energetic group of Garden Teams!

CSGDI covers key aspects of developing, designing and sustaining community, school, and congregational gardens.  This week's session-- organizational structure, volunteer management, and garden elevator pitches!  Learn more about CSGDI at www.growinghope.net

In addition, we are also looking for help cleaning and sterilizing seed trays and building light stands for our 2010 Seed Starting Squad.  Please note these initial volunteers will receive top priority in joining this year's Squad.

Please contact Jeremy Sobczak at jeremy@growinghope.net or see our website for more information.
