2009 Garden Walk

hope's harvest image
Join the Ann Arbor Woman's Farm and Garden Association for their 19th annual garden walk. The garden walk is a tour of several local, beautiful gardens in Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti. Last year, proceeds from the walk went to Growing Hope, and allowed us to build our hoop house at the Growing Hope Center last fall. This year Growing Hope is one of the gardens on the tour, and will be hosting food and festivities during the Garden Walk. All proceeds from the 2009 Garden Walk will benefit Agrarian Adventure!

Tickets are $12. Stop by and get yours at the Downtown Ypsi Farmers' Market, or e-mail kelly@growinghope.net for more info!

Big House Big Heart Charity Run

Downtown Ypsilanti
Farmers' Market

Every Tuesday from 2-6 pm!

Farmers Market greens
For the fourth year in a row, the Farmers' Market is proving to be a wonderful space for community members to hang out and enjoy delicious food! We've seen higher numbers than any beginning season yet, including more visitors, more EBT usage, and more vendors. Several new vendors will be joining us for the season, including the fantastic Needle-Lane Farms, Sylvia from Pilar's Catering (pictured above), and Char's Kitchen - a baker with lots of no sugar options. Live music will continue almost every week. Black Train and Erickson Elementary Choir joined us on opening day, and Mark Hedglin and crew were with us this past Tuesday. Ericksonhope's harvest image Elementary was a huge highlight for us, doing some dancing, piano solos, and vocal solos. Next week we are excited to hear the Indie Rock tunes of White Raven.

Come by this Tuesday from 2-6 pm for seasonal asparagus, rhubarb, greens, and radishes, along with fresh tamales and baked goods. Bring your neighbors, join in some fantastic sidewalk chalk drawings and games, and support your local farmers and artisans!
15th Annual Ypsi PRIDE Day
This Saturday!
Join us as we celebrate Ypsi PRIDE's 15th anniversary this Saturday, May 16 and help to clean up and steward several sites throughout Ypsilanti, including Growing Hope's own Perry Learning Garden! An expected 500 to 1200 volunteers from our community will be out picking up litter, painting, sweeping, cleaning, planting flowers & cleaning up the river. Once the work is done, volunteers are treated to a 'post-event celebration' in Riverside Park that includes lunch, live entertainment, presentation of awards, and family activities.
Ypsi Pride
If you would like to help out, but have not signed up for a site, please meet at the Ypsilanti Chamber of Commerce (located in the Key Bank building on the corner of Michigan Ave and Hamilton) between 7:30 - 9am.
In gratitude & hope--
