Last year we launched our Hopeful Herbs social enterprise by selling basil & parsley at Farmers Markets and through the Ypsi Food Co-op.  This year, our spring plant sale efforts follow that theme, emphasizing herbal and edible planter combos that we've been tending for many weeks now, as well as Kitchen Garden kits for small-plot (i.e. 4x4 feet gardens) intensive growing.  We're also selling raised bed kits and rain barrels (and kit parts to make your own rain barrels).  This year, we've got some unique products to share!  Our Roots & Shoots youth will be selling their own line of herbal hand balms and we're now selling the "perfect" GH Mothers Day (or any day, really) herbal tea gift set!  CHECK OUT THE CATALOG and get your order in!
matthaei menWe'll also be selling herb planters at our Downtown Ypsi Farmers Market and at our big Spring Transplant sale at the Growing Hope Center site on May 9-10.  Check the calendar for details!

What Can You Grow In A Square?
The GH FOUR SQUARE SOCIETY
is "squarely" under way!
Last month, we posed the question, "What Can You Grow in a Square?"  Well, the response to the question has been phenomenal!  Many of our friends and supporters have responded, positively.  The Growing Hope Four Square Society has taken off! Our new initiative works to get gardeners of all ages and experience levels to participate in growing at least one four by four foot area, and telling us about how it goes.  4squarelogoParticipants may be growing for their personal or family consumption, for sale (maybe at the Ypsi Farmers Market!), or for donation to less fortunate neighbors.

There is STILL no cost to join the Four Square Society!  The only thing that is asked is that Society members agree to track the progress of their plot(s) by weighing/counting their harvest, writing in and sharing info or photos on the Society's blog will be getting started really soon.

Are you interested yet?  Does this idea grab you or even make you just a bit curious?  If so, click here to Get More Info.  Once you sign up and tell us a bit about your garden or garden-to-be, we'll provide you with all of the informational materials that you'll need to get started!  Included in your information will be tracking sheets, info resources about small plot gardening, and a cool four square society sticker! Go to our webpage to read more & sign up, or download the brochure version with a hard copy sign up sheet . . . and then get GROWING for the spring!  If you're interested in purchasing a four by four foot raised bed and getting some help with what to put in it, then you should check out our Spring Catalog!square bed
