Alumni Chorus for '07 Spring Concert!
Here's your chance to join your fellow alumni and relive the AABC experience. The Alumni Chorus will be performing in this years Spring concert "A Concert in the Park" Sunday, May 20 at 4 pm.
Plan to be there!
Audiences tell us that their favorite part of our spring & Christmas concerts are the songs featuring our alumni!
To ensure the success of this performance we need a good size Alumni chorus. Without an adequate number of Alumni we won't be able to proceed with this wonderful opportunity. So step-up-to-the-plate and let's make this happen!
Quality rehearsal time is always necessary to put together a great performance. The rehearsal schedule is outlined below. You are encouraged to take your music with you (and bring it for the next rehearsal) but remember - there's
NO SUBSTITUTE for being there!
THU, May 3 from 6:55 to 9:10 pm, AABC HQ, OC Fairgrounds, Costa Mesa.
THU, May 10 from 6:55 to 9:10 pm, AABC HQ, OC Fairgrounds, Costa Mesa. |

| Summer Tour Help
Pacific Northwest and Western Canada
We're working hard to put together our 2007 summer tour. We'll be heading north around July 20 and are looking for concerts in Northern California, Oregon, Washington, British Columbia and Alberta. We plan to be in the Canadian Rockies the first week of August, and then we'll head home via the West Coast again. If you live in, or know of, a city that does summer-time concerts, or if there's a theater or church that might be willing to arrange a concert, please be in touch with Tony Manrique at a.manrique@taabc.org or (714) 708-1670 x11. | |

AABC 2007 Jog-a-Thon
Music in Motion!
Saturday, March 17th, dawned bright and clear - and 110 AABC choristers and staff members took to the Davis School track between 1:15 and 3:30 pm to participate in the AABC's 25th annual Jog-a-Thon in a true embodiment of teamwork and dedication.
This year, in an effort to reach our "ultimate" goal of $100,000, ALL AABC staff members participated in the Jog-A-Thon. That's Wesley Martin, Tony Manrique ('72), Aaron Cassaro ('95), Andy Serrano ('95), Pierre Calderon ('04), Sean Cruz ('03), Peter Raia ('05) and Greg Ward ('05). At the end of the day, their Jog-a-Thon pledges totaled $3,632.50.
Total pledges from the boys were $76,759.42. Thus the grand total of pledges stands at $80,391.92!!!
Taking into account the boys who have to either run in our "make-up" Jog-a-thon or still turn in their pledge packets -we're within "striking distance" of our $85,000 "must-reach" goal!
We're deeply grateful to all of our boys and staff members for an outstanding job. And our thanks go out as well to alumni who sponsored boys with pledges and donations!
There's an intense contest amongst the four singing parts, with the Part that averages the highest dollars per boy winning a 2-day trip to southern California theme parks. At this point, all four Parts are still "in the running" (pun intended). |

AABC Alumni Bus Fund
$5 a month will help keep us "on the road"
In an effort to keep up with ever-rising costs of operating and maintaining our bus, we've started an Alumni Bus Fund.
Even though having our own AABC bus is cheaper than renting busses, it's still a big part of our budget. We have to pay for fuel, insurance, maintenance, repairs and drivers.
Each year bus costs go up. Fuel has gone from $1.50 to $3.00 a gallon. Insurance is also up along with the cost of maintenance (repair facilities keep increasing labor rates).
We got to thinking about the bus costs, and came up with the idea that if each AABC alumnus donates $5 a month to our Bus Fund, it would be an enormous help with the increasing costs of the bus. And yet $5 a month is really pretty affordable. It's about the cost of a frappuccino at Starbucks, a Big Mac meal at McDonald's, or a few songs from I-tunes.
Multiplied by all of our alumni, $5 a month would be a HUGE help to the Chorus.
The problem is the 80/20 rule. If AABC alumni are like members of other organizations, then only 20% will give the $5 a month - and that won't be enough to meet the increasing costs of the bus.
But we don't think AABC alumni are like members of other organizations. We're confident that having ridden on the AABC bus many times during your years as a singer, you understand the value and importance of the bus to the Chorus's success.
Sending $5 a month to our Bus Fund is a great way for alumni to support the Chorus. By making sure our boys, now and in the future, will always have a safe, reliable and FUN way to get to and from concerts and go on tours.
You can send your donation monthly, or give it all at once ($60 for the year).
The easiest way is to go to the AABC website: www.taabc.org, click on the DONATE button at the top right of the home page and donate via PayPal. OR you email Tony Manrique at a.manrique@taabc.org and he'll send you a set of pledge envelopes.
It'll be marvelous to tell our boys that it's the alumni of the Chorus, the guys that came before them and who shaped the AABC into the great organization it is today, who are still "riding along" with us on the bus to each concert!
Our thanks to the following allumni who have already made donations or pledges to the Alumni Bus Fund:
Juan Ayala ('92), Aaron Cassaro ('95), Kevin Gustafson ('97), Tony Manrique ('72), Fr. Bob Pipta ('82), Scott Rogers ('94), Greg Smet ('72), Mark Williams ('87) |
