Every year, after a whirlwind of Milan Fair excitement, SUITE New York waits patiently to present you with the newest designs from our European friends. This week , we are happy to highlight some of our favorite new 2012 designs from Italy, just in time for an Autumnal update to your space.

Pilotis Sofa
Philippe Nigro designed the Pilotis sofa to become the protagonist of a room. Stable legs and back-supports in solid wood contrast with the soft body of the sofa, creating what Nigro eloquently describes as an “intimate island, a sheltered place, a refuge for relaxation.”

Birdie Suspension
The Birdie Suspension light is a welcome addition to the popular Birdie Lamp collection from 2011. Inspired by the surprising world of nature, Birdie Suspension is a cheerful dose of whimsy for any space. One, three, six or nine “branched” versions have arms of differing lengths which can all be freely positioned to create the lighting environment of your dreams.

Keel Table
The Keel table was designed by Form Us With Love based on the designers’ lengthy observation of sailboats. The vertical divider in the table is based on the centerboard that crosses the keel of a boat; thus adding stability to the outer structure which is crafted from a single piece of curved wood.

Behive Suspension
Behive Suspension is a new addition to the Red Dot award winning Behive Table Lamp collection from 2011. Stacked rings that gradually increase in diameter create the form of this nature-inspired light; a perfect combination of formal purity and technological research.
