The ideal desk should be a vehicle for transitioning your body and mind from work to play and back again. This week, SUITE New York presents perfect desks for your home workspace.

Secret
The student truly became the teacher in the case of the Secret Desk. While working on his final thesis project, student Markus Schmidt asked to work under German furniture maker, Zeitraum, to bring his vision to life. Taking inspiration from traditional school desk, this clever design has two “secret” lift-up panels to conceal books, stationary, a laptop and cables.

Scrittarello
The dainty Scrittarello writing desk from Italian designer Achille Castiglioni is a wonderfully simple design, also reminiscent of a child’s school desk. Made from beech-veneered plywood and white laminate, its broad table top provides ample space to spread out papers while the saw horse legs keep the overall design light and airy.

Reflex Secretaire
Vico Magistretti designed the Reflex Secretaire in 1992. Its design is both traditional, with a roll-top and pull out writing surface, and modern with the addition of four castors and drawer fronts in silver-tone anodized aluminum. Reflex Secretaire is a true jewel box of a desk, complete with a lock and key.
