Coat Rack
Mathieu Mategot was a Hungarian-French designer and material artist, characterized as one of the most renowned French designers of the 1950s. Though he only devoted one decade to furniture and interior accessory design, Mategot’s products are legendary. Coat Rack is a timeless example of his distinct contemporary aesthetic.

Kangourou Table
Shadows played a key role in Mategot’s designs. The Kangourou Table consists of two small tables, the smaller one sitting within the larger. When the tables are displayed together light passes through, reflecting half-moon shadows onto the floor below. When standing separately, two full moons are reflected.

Nagasaki Chair
The Nagasaki chair is Mategot's best-known piece and epitomizes the sense of joy found in the designer’s works. Mategot was the first person to combine metal tubing with perforated sheet metal; a pairing that particularly characterizes his work. The three-legged Nagasaki is included in the permanent collection at the Vitra Design Museum and the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris.

Nagasaki Stool
The Nagasaki Stool, a match for the iconic chair, is made from the same perforated metal and metal tubing as the Nagasaki Chair. Through his mastery of metal work, Mategot abided to the prevailing cultural ethos of the time to employ industrial materials and methods into his work. Today, the Nagasaki Chair and Stool symbolize 1950s design.
