The coffee table as we know it was a relatively late development in furniture history.  Though the exact date of introduction is unclear, there are many theories as to who or what may have inspired this institution.

Was it the profound rise in popularity of coffee versus tea? Perhaps the influence of the Anglo-Japanese style popular in Britain in the late 1800s?

Wherever and whenever the coffee table arose, it is impossible to imagine a contemporary home or lounge setting without one.

PK61

Poul Kjaerholm designed the PK61 coffee table in 1956. Elementary and minimalistic, the PK61 exemplifies the industrial mystique essential to Kjaerholm’s aesthetic. Each of the flawless tabletop choices will complement your collection of coffee table books.

A larger version, the PK61A, is also available.
