This week SUITE New York’s DesignX Series features Lange Production, a Copenhagen based manufacturer with exclusive rights to resume production of iconic pieces by Fabricius & Kastholm.

Inspired by the 1920s pioneers in functionalism and the innovative 1960s Scandinavian expression of form, Fabricius & Kastholm designed a range of minimalist furniture that is classic and yet entirely evocative of the spirit of today.

All of these designs and more can be seen at SUITE New York’s DesignX, May 14-18th, 11am-5pm daily. 

 

GJ CHAIR

Designed by Grete Jalk in 1963, the GJ Chair is regarded as the Danish designer's best-known work. The chair, for which Jalk also created a companion side table, is an eloquent sculpture composed of two pieces of molded plywood. Lange Production was awarded the red dot product design award for the reissue of the GJ in 2009.

FK 87 GRASSHOPPER

The FK 87 Grasshopper was designed by Fabricius & Kastholm in 1968 and originally produced by Kill International Germany.  Like all of the Lange Production products, the reissue of the FK 87 Grasshopper was carried out in close collaboration between Lange Production and Jørgen Kastholm.

FK 710 SKATER CHAIR

Fabricius & Kastholm designed the Skater Chair in 1968. Unique and rife with sophisticated details, it is a classic in furniture history. Like all Lange Production products, the Skater Chair is produced at the same factory using the same tools as the 1960s originals.

FK 150 SIDEBOARD

The FK 150 Sideboard was designed in 1973 and works as a floating room divider as it is veneered on all sides and both the inside and outside. The FK 150 is a fine example of Fabricius & Kastholm’s ability to create furniture where form, function and finish fuse seamlessly.
