Danish design legend Arne Jacobsen may be best known for his Series 7, Egg and Swan chairs, but design aficionados consider the Series 8 to be his most beautiful. Its curves make it one of the most sensual and comfortable side chairs around.

Series 8
Originally created as a commission for the Danish National Bank in 1968, the chair proved to be more difficult to execute than expected. The inherent curves posed a difficult manufacturing challenge in order to meet Jacobsen’s high quality standards, and the chair wound up discontinued by the end of the decade. With the improvement of production methods, the Series 8 is being reintroduced next month.

Its sexy tiny “waist” and curvy “bottom” make it a stunner. Available in dark brown and black lacquered beech, the Series 8 sits on polished or satin chrome legs and is stackable. The design is also available as an armchair, called the Lily.
