 "Show Us Your Ocean Connection"

Planet Connect announces the 2011 Get Green video contest.  In partnership with the Leaders of Environmental Action Films (L.E.A.F.), the Get Green Video Contest is asking U.S. high school students to Show Us Your Ocean Connection.  We want you to make a 30sec-120sec video and show us how your everyday actions impact the ocean, whether you live on the coast or 1,000 miles from the sea.  Get your video camera ready and be creative to win cash or other great prizes from Samsung, including the Galaxy Tab and an HD Camcorder.

Entries accepted between December 17, 2010 and February 23, 2011. The first 100 entrants will receive a free re-usable Eco Falls water bottle!

$1,000 Grants for Wildlife Conservation

Whether you're in a city, rural area or a suburb, wildlife is all around you. In many places, that wildlife faces challenges. If you're a high school student with a creative idea for conserving and protecting wildlife, Planet Connect is offering grants of $1,000 to implement projects and participate in a local internship focused on wildlife conservation or natural resources.

Once you have focused in on a specific issue occurring in your community, start thinking about what you can do to address the problem. What kind of action can you take? Do you see any opportunities to protect or preserve wildlife habitat?

Here's your chance to make a difference!  Apply for a national Planet Connect Student Grant today!

Apply by February 1, 2011! Click here for the grant application. Click here to see a promo video.

About the GGI Network
About the GGI Network

The Go Green Initiative is the global leader in fully comprehensive environmental action plans for schools, businesses, organizations and homes.

By promoting environmental stewardship on campuses from preschools through universities, the GGI works to involve families, businesses and local governments in the common goal of protecting human health through environmental stewardship.

Since its inception in July 2002, the Go Green Initiative has been endorsed by the National School Boards Association, National Recycling Coalition, adopted by nine State PTA Boards, implemented in all 50 U.S. states, 39 countries and on 5 continents.

The Go Green Initiative has kept more than ten million pounds of recyclables out of the world's landfills, conserved 25.7 million gallons of water; reduced greenhouse gas emissions by more than 3,800 metric tons; conserved 34,500 barrels of oil; and saved over 67 billion BTUs of energy.

These accomplishments were achieved voluntarily, with no mandates or legislation, showing that "going green" is practical and simply makes sense.

There are currently over 2.2 million students and teachers in registered Go Green schools.
