Greetings!
How do we know that the Go Green Initiative is having a positive impact on the environment? We measure success in real numbers. On December 15, March 15, and June 15 each year, we ask our registered school to give us information on how much material they have kept out of their local landfill through a simple, online form called the QPR (quarterly progress report). After schools enter that information, our database collates the numbers, and we enter them into an EPA-sponsored calculator that helps us quantify the true environmental impact that our family of Go Green Initiative schools has had.
I want to thank the following schools that have already turned in their December 15th reports. The Go Green Initiative coordinator at each school will receive a small gift box of Go Green Initiative items as our way of saying 'thank you' for doing such a great job. You can receive a gift box, too if we receive your school's QPR by December 15!

Since we started gathering this information, Go Green Initiative schools in all 50 U.S. states, and in 14 countries have kept the following out of our planet's landfills:
Over 5.3 million pounds of paper
More than 530,000 pounds of cardboard
60,000 pounds of aluminum
109,000 pounds of plastic beverage containers
Nearly 15,000 cellular phones
11,000 printer cartridges
More than 435,000 pounds of mixed recyclables
80,000 pounds of food waste
As a result of this waste diversion, our family of Go Green Initiative schools has had an incredible environmental impact. Together we have avoided the use of the following:
44 billion BTUs of energy use
2,604 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions
18,606,000 gallons of water
1 million gallons of oil
9,653 cubic yards of landfill space, due to paper recycling alone |
