Go Green School of the Week:
Old Settlers Elementary School
Flower Mound, TX

Week of October 6, 2008
Butterflies are Free at Old Settlers Elementary
Butterflies are free to drop in for some sweet nectar or simply to give their wings a rest at Old Settlers Elementary School in Flower Mound, Texas. The butterfly garden, smack dab on the monarch's migration route, is one of the many creative programs at Old Settlers. The school has an extensive garden for students to tend and harvest, in-room composting with worms and much more.
TreeHugger.com features our School of the Week on its Web site. Owned by The Discovery Channel, the site gets 4.7 million page views a month. Read what TreeHugger says about Old Settlers.

The Old Settlers Stars are truly stars when it comes to going green!

Sincerely,

We look forward to providing you, your friends and colleagues with lots of interesting and informative go-green news. Don't forget to drop us an e-mail to let us know what you're doing at your school!
Nominate Your School
We are always on the lookout for creative and innovative Go Green school programs to feature at the Go Green Initiative. We have thousands of schools on our roster, so think hard about what your school is doing that sets you apart from the crowd.

Drop us a note at newsletter@gogreeninitiative.org to tell us why you think your school deserves to be a School of the Week. Be sure to include lots of details about why your program stands out. Don't forget your contact information, both e-mail and phone.

We'll also need photos that tell the story of your Go Green program. We're looking for action shots. Please steer clear of posed shots with kids grinning into the camera. We want pictures with action, spontaneity, excitement and fun. Please keep your photos to 2 MB or smaller.

If your school is chosen, we'll be in touch to gather more info so that we can let the world know how creatively your school has gone green!
