Search the Internet and Help Support the GGI!
|
Next time you need to search for information on the "web" go to search engine www.goodsearch.com. Once you are there, select the Go Green Initiative Association as the company to "Goodsearch for" and start searching. GGI will receive 1 cent each time you do. It may not seem like much but if we all did this it would add up to some great support for our non-profit foundation in no time.

We are excited to be bringing our Summit to the East Coast this year and hope those that have been unable to come out to California in the past can make it to New York! The Summit is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, October 17-18, 2008 at the OnCenter Complex in Syracuse, NY. We are pleased to be partnering with the City of Syracuse, the New York State Association for Reduction, Reuse and Recycling (NYSAR3) and the NY State PTA for this year's event. Go Green Initiative Welcomes Nature's Bounty as a New Partner!
|
We are pleased to welcome Nature's Bounty as our newest partner! Nature's Bounty has been in business for over 35 years and is always striving to be "greener" in what they do. As noted on their website "When it comes to the environment, every little difference adds up to a
big difference over time. That's why for years we've been implementing
eco-friendly initiatives to work towards a greener tomorrow. From
packaging with recyclable bottles, to shipping in recycled packaging
cases, to installing energy efficient bulbs, even using eco-friendly
chilling tanks that use the cold weather to naturally cool the water
used in production. Every little bit counts as we move forward in an
environmentally conscious manner." To find out more about Nature's Bounty and how they are going greener, visit www.naturesbounty.com.

| GGI Principle #4: Evaluate the Environmental Impact of Every Activity
|
Conserve Energy! We hear that statement all the time but what does it really mean and what is energy? Well, according to "30 Simple Energy Things You Can Do to Save the Earth" (30 Things) put out by the Earth Works Group and PG & E, "Energy is the power to "do work". Anything that takes effort is work - and it always requires energy. If you're making a car run, pedaling a bicycle, running a vacuum cleaner, throwing a ball, firing a rocket into space, or writing a letter (or printing one out from a computer), you're using energy." One of the ways to conserve energy is to follow the "Three R's" - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. As noted in 30 Things, "Energy is one of the most valuable things on Earth. It takes a lot of energy to dig up metal, remove trees from a forest, or get oil from the ground.. And it takes a lot of energy to turn these raw materials into useable products. So the 3R's save energy in two ways: 1) They reduce the use of energy in the first place, and (2) they call for reusing materials instead of wasting the energy it would take to extract them from the Earth all over again. It almost always takes less energy to make a product from recycled materials than it does to make it from new ones."
So, look at everything you do and see if there is a way to do them using less energy. If we all did a little, it would matter a lot!
