Go Green Initiative's School of the Week:

E. R. Hughes Elementary School

New Hartford, NY

Hughes Elementary School has created something special! They have a Green Team that has been working hard to make sure their school is all around "green."  They even caught the eye of the "Utica Observer-Dispatch." Maybe it was their green vests!

The team is planning a waster audit at the end of the month. They will go through their trash to find other itmes to recycle on a regular basis. They have already cut their trash in half.

The Green Team is a role model for the younger students. At lunchtime they team helps everyone sort their trash.

"They tell us what to recycle, and where to put things," says third-grade student Aidan Lederman referring to the separate recycling bins for juice boxes, foil and garbage.

Treehugger.com features our school of the week on their website. Owned by The Discovery Channel, their website gets 4.7 million page views a month.
