IESBDC and Metropolitan Water District Certify 25 Businesses at Workshop 

 

   

The Metropolitan Water District (MWD) in partnership with the Inland Empire Small Business Development Center hosted a workshop on October 6, 2011designed to give business owners an understanding of the purchasing procedures of the public sector. Business Owners learned how to develop strategies and how to market their goods and services to the government. At the completion of the workshop, 25 business with certified as Small Business through Metropolitan Water District.

Building Past Performance

By now you may have begun or completed some of the basic steps in preparing your company to do business with the government.   Registration on CCR and perhaps certifications are complete. Unfortunately, you may find it's kind of like trying to get a job without experience. You can't get a job because you don't have experience, but you don't have experience because you can't get a job.

 

The government, utilities or large commercial firms, for that matter would like to see companies establish a solid list of past performance before hiring them as contractors. "The use of past performance as a major evaluation factor in the contract award process is instrumental in making "best value" selections."(as stated in the Federal Procurement Policy). Al Gohary - Business Consultant 

 

Al Gohary 2011

Al Gohary is a general business consultant and QuickBooks ProAdvisor with the Inland Empire Small Business Development Center (IESBDC). Prior to joining the IESBDC in 2003, Al helped in starting, managing and growing two Inland Empire small business companies; one of which went public in June of 2000.

Mr. Gohary's background includes Business Administration, Hotels & Motels Management, Real Estate, and Financing & Accounting. Mr. Gohary holds two bachelor degrees in Science & Business Administration, diploma in Hotel & Motel Management, and is a Quickbooks Certified ProAdvisor.

Over the past 8 years with the IESBDC; Mr. Gohary helped the center's clients in starting, growing, and managing their businesses.

Veronica Kusudo - Administrative Assistant

 

 
Veronica Kusudo 2011

Veronica Kusudo is the administrative assistant at the main office of the Inland Empire Small Business Development Center in San Bernardino. She manages the front office and the calendars of seven of the nine consultants at the IESBDC. Veronica joined the team in October 2006.

 

She has a strong background in customer and client relations with more then 12 years experience in the restaurant business. Veronica also has worked as an executive administrative assistant at the United Way and the YWCA in Riverside County. In addition, she and her husband started a landscaping and gardening business in 1986 that has helped her understand the important role the SBDC can play in helping people succeed in their business endeavors.

 

Veronica loves helping people and is delighted in hearing from clients that tell her of their successes and will go the extra mile when they call with a question or problem.
