Welcome to our summer newsletter.
With definite signs of more "would be" buyers on the island we are, as always, optimistic. But that is what is expected of Estate Agents, I suppose!
However although there has been an increase in traffic - the majority of clients are still nervous of making a commitment to buy. Of course, the Greek debt crisis and the possible knock on effect to Italy, Spain, and Portugal are understandably serious concerns. But life goes on - and as the pound strengthens - prices are still the same but with owners being more "negotiable" on price, it's time to get off the fence and make the decision to buy!
Summer has come - after a somewhat variable winter with more rain than usual, we will soon all be complaining because it's too hot! Summer officially started on June 21st in Spain unlike England where the same day is called "Mid Summer's Day".
World Cup Football, Wimbledon, and Grand Prix motor racing every other week are also contributing to the excuses not to buy.
On a more serious note - sales of property in Mallorca have improved quite substantially since a year ago. There is talk of an overall increase in property prices according to government sources but these figures are always suspect and apply in any case more to the general housing market than to second homes.

John applied for a fork lift operator job at a warehouse near his home. Another chap from abroad applied for the same job and since both applicants had similar qualifications, they were asked to take a test. They were led into a room by the manager and allowed to complete the test in silence without interruptions. 
When the results were in, both men had scored 19 out of 20.
The manager went to John and said, "Thank you for coming to the interview, but we've decided to give the other chap the job."
"And why would you do that?  We both got 19 questions right. I'm as good a man as he is. I even live locally. Why would I not get the job?"

Manager, "We have made our decision not on the correct answers, but on the one question you both got wrong."
John, "And how would one incorrect answer be better than another?"

Manager, "Simple. On question number 7 the other chap wrote down, 'I don't know.'  You put down, 'Neither do I'.....
