PT Earns "SUPERIOR" Financial Rating in FIRST Program
For the ninth consecutive year, Pine Tree ISD has earned a "Superior Achievement" rating through the Schools FIRST rating, (Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas). The district was graded on 22 financial accountability indicators.

The Pine Tree Independent School District joins with the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in recognizing Ryan Millikin, who has been awarded as a Commended student in the Scholarship Program.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS MAKE A DIFFERENCE
|
Pine Tree ISD joined with the City of Longview's Partners in Prevention-Race Relations Committee to hold a World Caf� on Friday, October 22nd at the Junior High school. Students were able to share ideas and discuss how to prevent bullying and build an understanding that there is No-Place-for-Hate.

COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Pine Tree Junior High students caught a glimpse of their financial futures this month and got a big reality check. "It has showed us what we would do as life gets harder and we get into the real world," eighth grader Kisyana Willis said. "I know what my mom goes through now." Telco Plus Credit Union in Longview brought the Financial Reality Fair to Pine Tree Junior High as a way to help students become financially smart adults, said Telco President and CEO Betty DeWeese. "We see adults all the time that have gotten themselves into debt and have no idea how to get themselves out," she said. "The healthier we all are financially, the healthier the community is." At the Financial Reality Fair, students began by choosing a career. They were given a budget and starting salary for that career, and were required to live within their means. Station by station, students obtained information about necessities, such as housing, utilities, transportation and food costs, and were able to calculate "wants" into their budget, such as shopping, electronics and travel. Canned Food Drive for those in Need

Pine Tree Middle School Student Council is holding a canned food drive for the Highway 80 Rescue Mission. The food drive will be held from November 1st to November 18th. You can also bring non perishable foods and household items, such as soap, toothpaste, laundry detergent, toothbrushes, etc.

Red Ribbon Week Essay Contest Winners & Campus Events Red Ribbon Week, the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country helped remind students of the dangers of drugs. Campuses across the district celebrated with themed days, special programs and of course, red ribbons. All events were visual symbols and lessons that taught students the value of making a personal commitment to live drug free lives.
