SUPERINTENDENT UPDATE

Superintendent An exciting new year is upon us as enrollment grows and we greet over 4,700 students to our district. Our year will be marked with energy, enthusiasm, and Pirate Pride as we continue a tradition of excellence for all. As a district, we are striving for innovative and inspiring learning experiences for our students which will bring us closer to our goal of ensuring success for each and every student in Pine Tree ISD.

We are fortunate to have a community that supports our school system and our students. Thank you for your efforts as Room Moms, booster club members, PTA/PTO members, mentors, and for your generous donations for our Foundation and various clubs and groups.

Instructional programs will remain our top priority this year. Although the accomplishments of our students grow every year, our primary goal is to continue to focus on excellence in every classroom and in every program. The success of our instructional program is grounded in teachers and leaders who are innovative and excited about their work.

Our future includes high expectations for all in the organization; and we believe if we hold each other and ourselves accountable for high quality work based on those expectations and data-driven decisions, we will capture success.

The future of Pine Tree ISD is seen in our most valuable asset - the students that walk through our doors. We will work each day to ensure a safe and nurturing environment that provides our students with challenging, rigorous learning activities which also cultivate their curiosity as learners.

We invite you to collaborate with us, and become an active part of our schools.  Take time to visit and take time to give a valuable gift to our students - your time as a volunteer in our schools. Our students need you; our staff welcomes you, and we thank you for supporting Pine Tree ISD.

PT FOUNDATION ASSISTS WITH ALUMNI DIRECTORY

WERE YOU ONCE A STUDENT IN PT SCHOOLS?

THEN WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU!

Pine Tree High School alumni are scattered across the country, and even around the world.  But no matter where their lives have led them, alumni all share a common bond - and that's the place they started out.  That's why the Pine Tree Education Foundation is working on a new publication designed to help bring PT alumni back together.

The new alumni directory will include comprehensive biographical listings with contact information, career overviews, and family highlights for alumni of Pine Tree.  To make sure that the directory is as comprehensive and up-to-date as possible, the publisher, Harris Connect, will contact alumni by mail, email and phone in the next few months to verify that the information printed is accurate and complete.  Harris Connect has more than 45 years of experience researching and publishing alumni and membership directories.  Read More.

STUDENTS TO SPEAK TO SPACE STATION: SEPT. 9TH
Nasa LogoIf you could talk to an astronaut on the International Space Station, what would you ask?  "How does it feel in zero gravity?"  Or "Is it hard to sleep in space?"  Pine Tree Middle School Science teachers asked their students to brainstorm questions in preparation for a chance to talk directly to an astronaut.

The question and answer session, a first for the Piney Woods Region of Texas, is planned for September 9, 2011.  This event will offer an opportunity for Pine Tree students to experience the excitement of Amateur Radio by communicating directly with crewmembers onboard the International Space Station.   READ MORE.
