School Board taps lone finalist for Superintendent
 
Dr. Marian Strauss Soon to Take the Helm
Dr. Marian Strauss, former superintendent of the Wimberley Independent School District, has been named the lone finalist for the Pine Tree Independent School District superintendent position.  Following the required 21-day wait, the board plans to hire her as the District's Superintendent.  Read more. 
 
'Red Ribbon Week'  2009
 
Red Ribbon WeekEvents Geared Toward Prevention
Pine Tree's students, school faculty and staff members in our schools will join in the national Red Ribbon Week drug abuse prevention celebration October 23-30.  Each day students and faculty will participate in a common theme.  Read more.

PT National Merit Awards Named 
Pine Tree  is pleased to announce that 4 students have been recognized by the National Merit Scholar Program for 2009-2010. The students chosen as semifinalists have the opportunity to advance in the competition. National Merit Scholars winners will be selected from this group in the February.  The Pine Tree High School Recipients are:  Semi Finalist: Sherri Deckelboim, and Commended Students:J. Shelby Hulett, L. Jake Magness, and Anna E. Walker.

Primary Campus Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

A ribbon cutting was held on the campus of the Pine Tree Primary School marking the official grand opening of the school and the ending to a long string of construction projects.   Elton Taylor, from the Longview Partnership introduced Chamber representatives and Dr. Marian Strauss, Interim Superintendent of Schools. Read more.
Flu Season  
 
Prevention is the Best Practicewashing hands
As you may know, flu can be easily spread from person to person. Therefore, we are taking steps to reduce the spread of flu in Pine Tree ISD.  Consistent with the district's infection control program, school nurses will be monitoring student illness and teachers will be stressing the importance of good hygiene practices such as hand washing and covering coughs and sneezes.  Click here to read more.
