Pete the Pirate
Pete the Pirate Gets a Makeover

Pete the Pirate, the beloved mascot of Pine Tree Independent School District, is finally getting much-needed R&R: restoration and redecoration. And not a day too soon. When Pine Tree alumni took the old and tattered pirate down earlier this week, they discovered he was in much worse shape than believed.   >More about Pete   >More Photos
Students Learn First Hand About Living With Disabilities

Kandace Cade got a taste of what her blind friend faces daily. Kandace and her 19 ninth-grade Peer Assistance and Leadership classmates at Pine Tree Junior High School volunteered to go all day Tuesday with a "handicap." Some students chose to use a wheelchair or crutches, some chose to be mute or deaf (with the help of earplugs), and some - like Kandace - blindfolded themselves.  >More

Talk Like a Pirate Day at the Elementary Campus

Talk Like a Pirate Day

"Yarr! Weigh anchor! Hoist the mizzen! Savvy, ye scallywag?!" The Pine Tree Elementary Campus celebrated in style with jumping cheerleaders, a lumbering pirate mascot and lines and lines of pirate costumes! Every September 19th is International Talk Like A Pirate Day where people young and old stop concentrating on work and search for anything related to Pirates.   >More
New Security Measures

The district piloted the V-Soft system at Pine Tree High School last year. The system performed to specification and greatly aided in visitor control at the sites.  >More

If You Give a Pig a Party
This week, students in Kindergarten through third grade will be traveling to the LeTourneau University's S.E. Belcher Jr. Chapel and Performance Center to watch, "If You Give a Pig a Party." This whimsical primer on animal entertaining, marks the 44th year the Junior League of Longview has staged its Children's Theater for area elementary school students. The League again teams with ArtsView Children's Theatre in Longview as the two groups host a production of the Dallas Children's Theater that has been touring the show since opening in Big D a year ago. >More
