Remembering a Time Gone By...Pine Tree Sale Builds Memories

Pine Tree Independent School District alumni and teachers are now able to own a piece of their past. Now that the new middle 5-6 school is up and running, construction workers will begin tearing down the old school to make way for a new primary campus. It will be the end of
a 75-year era, and the fall of the district's first brick building.

Teachers of the Year Recognized
Teacher Awards

Seven teachers at Pine Tree Independent School District were recognized Monday at the monthly School Board meeting by district officials for their outstanding work in
education.

Each year, one teacher is chosen from each campus as Teacher of the Year. They are nominated by their colleagues, who then must elect them. "When you're elected to something by your peers, you know you must be top-notch," Superintendent Lynn Whitaker said during a recent board of trustees meeting.

Teacher Awarded For Promoting Safety

School safety becomes a hot topic immediately after tragedies such as the Virginia Tech shooting in April that left 33 people dead. But For Pine Tree High School teacher Candee Collins, safety has always been No. 1 issue. It's not just that Collins is aware of how important school safety is. The 22-year Pine Tree veteran also tries to instill awareness in her students and her fellow educators.
