Grant Awarded to PTISD
Pine Tree has been granted $34,625 to use at the junior and senior high school campuses, according to K'Dawn O'Rear, deputy superintendent. Funds requested from the Texas Education Agency for the Beginning Teacher Induction and Mentoring Program will be used for stipends, training, supplies and release time. Read more news. |
Teacher Inservice & Convocation
All teachers return to duty on August 22nd. The Pine Tree Education Foundation cordially invites all Pine Tree ISD staff to the 4th Annual Welcome Back To School Coffee held 7:45-8:25, just prior to the convocation in the HS Theatre on Fairmont Street.
A special event that afternoon, at the new S.E. Belcher Jr. Chapel & Performance Center on the LeTourneau University campus, features a program by Ron Clark. Mr. Clark's tireless work and dedication to making a difference in the lives of children led him to be named Disney's American Teacher of the Year in 2000.

Lady Pirate Volleyball A run of seven consecutive years of district championships ended last season for the Pine Tree volleyball program, but coach Linda Godwin is optimistic this year's squad can again battle for a league title. "It's weird how it runs in cycles," said Godwin, who enters the 2007 season with a sterling career record of 527-104 (263-54 at Pine Tree). "We have a really good chance to contend again. That's why I think these kids have put in a lot of extra work." Read More.

New Middle School
Registration for new students will be held at the old campus on Pine Tree Road, but... |
when Pine Tree school buses pick up students for classes on Sept. 4, the district's top official said fifth- and sixth-graders will be dropped off at their new campus address off FM 1845. "We'll be working on it right up until the day doors open for class, but it will be completed," Superintendent Lynn Whitaker said during a tour of the facility.
