HS UIL ACADEMIC & ONE ACT PLAY
Among the Texas High School students participating in the Texas University Interscholastic League academic competition this past weekend in Austin were several returning home to Pine Tree with top finishes. Congratulations to all the students and their coaches for earning an opportunity to compete at the prestigious state level events!  >More
 
 
HS ART DEPARTMENT AWARDS
Pine Tree High School Art Department is to be congratulated for recent awards at the annual Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE). At the Area competition, 7 Pine Tree students were winners out of 482 competitors. >More
 
PTA  STATE WINNERS
Pine Tree PTA - Reflections Awards - include state winners. The annual arts program allows more than 700,000 children and youth to express themselves through musical composition, photography, visual arts, and literature.
 
PT MIDDLE 7 DUKE AWARDS
Six Pine Tree Middle 7 students have been invited to the Duke Talent Search state ceremony. The Duke Talent Search identifies academically talented 7th graders based on standardized test scores achieved while attending middle school. They were chosen to participate in the talent search and completed the SAT Test in January.  >More
 
Bands Earn High Marks at UIL Contest
The PT 7th grade band received an excellent rating in concert and a superior rating in sight reading at Spring Hill on Wednesday, Apr 11, 2007. The 8th grade band earned a superior rating on stage and an excellent rating in sight reading at the same contest. Both the High School wind Ensemble and the High School Symphonic Band made superior ratings on concert and in the sight reading resulting in a Sweepstakes Award at Mount Pleasant on Thursday, April 12th.  >More
 
PT Express & Middle 7 Choir Earn Sweepstakes

PT Express and the 7th grade Men and Women's choirs competed in the Region 4 UIL Concert and Sight-Reading competition and came home with sweepstakes. This award requires all 3 judges in the concert hall and all 3 judges in the sight-reading room to award the choir 1st division superior ratings.

Beacon Banquet Honors Educators
Seven teachers were honored with trophies and student stories Thursday at Pine Tree Independent School District's third Beacon Awards Banquet, which was sponsored by the Pine Tree Education Foundation. The honorees were chosen from student essays describing the impact or influence a teacher had on the student. Of the seven award winners, one is chosen to receive the Regen Stiles Teaching Excellence Award for "making a special difference in the life of a child," the education foundation states.  This year, Jim McGhee was awarded that distinction. >More
 

Pirate Prize Patrol
Friday the 13th, wasn't such a bad day this month for teachers in the Pine Tree district who were visited by the PT Education Foundation Pirate Prize Patrol! The volunteers ventured out on April 13th to surprise the spring 2007 grant recipients. This year the foundation gave away $19,969.48 in grants to deserving teachers throughout the district.

TRACK & FIELD
Three Students to Compete in Austin

The Class 4A Region II Track and Field Meet marked another stepping stone for three Pine Tree students: Clay Baker, Katie Abner and Vanessa Alderidge. These athletes advance to the University Interscholastic League State Track and Field Championships on May 11-12 at the University of Texas at Austin.  >More

 
BASEBALL
Pine Tree Bucs Wrap Up District Title
Needing one victory to clinch the District 12-4A title, the Pine Tree Pirates turned to Brian Shore for a clutch pitching performance on the road. Not only did the Pirate baseball team get a win, but the senior right-hander answered the call with a one-hit shutout, disposing of the Bobcats by a 4-0 score at Bobcat Field. The district championship, Pine Tree's first since sharing a title in 2001, results in a first-round bye in the state playoffs. >More

Team Dominates 17-4A Selections
Pine Tree's Krisjon Phillips earned the District 17-4A Offensive Most Valuable Player honors as he helped lead Pine Tree to the district title and a Region III quarterfinal appearance. Phillips was one of three Pirates to receive a superlative honor from the league's coaches, joining coach Andre Lo (Coach of the Year) and defender Cody Langley (Sophomore of the Year). >More

Boys Golf Fifth at 4A Regionals
Pine Tree got balanced scoring as the Pirates finished the first round of the Class 4A Region II golf meet at Robson Ranch in fifth place with a team score of 307. "I knew coming in that it was going to be hard," said Pine Tree coach Jody Berryhill. "I am very pleased with the play of the kids. They hung in there and shot well." >More
 
Lady Pirates Eighth at 4A Regionals
"Our practice round was helpful, but we were trying to test the wind," said Pine Tree coach Candee Collins. "We just didn't adjust to wind conditions like we should." Lady Pirate Jerrie Lucy shot a 99, and teammate Cortney Berryhill finished the first round with a 104. Bailey Kessing added a 112 for the Lady Pirates.
 
FOOTBALL
PTHS Adds Adams To Staff
After 24 years of combined coaching experience at Kilgore and Hallsville high schools, Roger Adams is moving to another District 12-4A school. Adams, who has been out of coaching for two years, has been hired as the new defensive line coach for the Pine Tree Pirates. >More
