Support ACES' Children's Education Fund Drive

Each spring ACES launches its DiscoverChildren's Education Fund Drive to support the educational programs we provide for local school groups.

Who could have imagined that the environmental education classes that began at Hallam Lake in 1968 would become the nationally recognized program it is today - making an impressive 30,000 student contacts annually from 30 regional schools?  Nearly every child in the community benefits from ACES' Environmental Science program.

This year, ACES' goal is to raise $120,000 to bridge the gap between what schools are able to pay and the real cost of the program, which includes nine highly qualified environmental educators plus teaching supplies and materials.  Toward that end, a letter is being sent to every ACES member requesting their support.  Please watch for your Children's Education Fund drive letter in the mail!  For more information or to make a secure contribution on-line now, go to www.aspennature.org/donate-to-aces and select Children's Education Fund.

The Raven's Gift:
An Evening with Jon Turk

Slideshow presentation and appetizer potluck*
ACES at Hallam Lake
Free and open to the public

Jon Turk, chemist, environmental scientist and adventurer will be at Hallam Lake on Friday, March 5th to share his new book, The Raven's Gift. The Raven's Gift outlines five expeditions to northeast Siberia and a deep friendship with Moolynaut, a 100 year old healer and shaman who lives in the small village of Vyvenka.  Moolynaut's great and enduring lesson is that the tundra, and all the wild spaces of our planet, provide the foundation for spiritual healing and physical well being.  Thus science and humanism coalesce.
*Please bring an appetizer to share.
