"That's just the way that I am. I can't change that about myself." Wrong! Yes, you can!

When we begin to discover the personality forces at play in the way we speak, act, and make decisions, it's tempting to blame all of our bad choices on our personality type. Furthermore, we often use the makeup of our personality as an excuse to avoid aspects of serving God that are not optional for any follower of Christ: prayer, Bible study, giving, personal evangelism, public worship, and living in fellowship and unity with other believers. Some items on this list do not come easily to some personality types, but ALL Christians are commanded to do ALL of them.

Remember that the Holy Spirit works within each of us to conform our lives to the pattern set by Jesus Christ.  Even better, when we cooperate with the Spirit's work within us, the Bible tells us that "we have the mind of Christ" (1 Corinthians 2:16b NIV). Let us commit ourselves to the process of exchanging the negative aspects of our personalities for the perfectly righteous personality of Jesus.
Today's Prayer:

Dear God, thank you for providing me with all the power I need to overcome negative patterns of thought and action in my life. Help me surrender myself to the transformation that you are conducting in my personality. I long for the day when my personality matches the personality of Jesus.
