40 Days Header
Who do you care about?

Our 40-day experience is based on the book SHAPE: Finding and Fulfilling Your Unique Purpose for Life by Erik Rees. In the book, Rees tells a story that I'd like to share with you.
When the great nineteenth-century preacher Dwight L. Moody was in London during one of his famous evangelistic tours, several British clergymen visited him wanting to know his secret.  How-and more specifically, why was this poorly educated American so effective in winning throngs of people to Christ?  Moody took the men to the window of his hotel room and asked each in turn to tell him what they saw.  One by one, the men described the people in the part below.  Then Moody looked out the window, and tears began coursing down his cheeks.  "What do you see, Mr. Moody?' one of the men asked.

Moody replied: "I see countless thousands of souls that will one day spend eternity in hell if they do not find the Savior."
That is one story that I will never forget from this book, and it goes back to what I said on day one, stop and really think about what you are doing and compare it to what you could be doing if you listened to your heart.  God gives us a spiritual heartbeat for this very reason.

Ask yourself the following questions . . .
  1. I tend to feel energized around people of what age?
  2. I often worry about people in which life-situation group?
  3. What kind of people do I feel I can most profoundly influence for God?
  4. How could I impact them in a way that maximizes my gifts?
If you didn't do it yesterday, follow this link to answer the Discovering Your Heart's Passion questionnaire.

Remember, keep praying that God would help you understand your SHAPE!
Today's Prayer:

Dear God, your Word tells me how Jesus saw the crowds and was moved with compassion for them. Since I have the Spirit of Jesus in my heart, I pray that you would move me with that kind of compassion as well. Please show me the special group of people that you are moving me to serve. Help me to show them how much you love them by showing them how much I love them.
