This is a fabulous year to be part of FWCC!    

I knew when I became Clerk that this would be an extraordinary year, starting with a new Executive Secretary and ending with the Sixth World Conference of Friends. But even I could not have predicted everything that has happened in between...

Accepting QYP invitation in Peru

I didn't know we would accept the invitation from Young Adult Friends in Peru and Bolivia to bring the Quaker Youth Pilgrimage to Latin America.

(I did know that the 2012 Pilgrimage would be in Europe. I'm so glad that teens from five countries in the Americas will participate.)

I didn't know that our Voices of Friends website would publish Margaret Fell's writing in Spanish for the first time. (I did know that the Wider Quaker Fellowship has been publishing pamphlets for 60 years and they continue to share them with Friends and seekers everywhere. You can find them in English and Spanish at www.voicesoffriends.org and search for the topics that interest you and share them with local study groups for adults or youth.)

I didn't know that our Salt & Light gatherings would connect 1700 Friends in eight countries with the theme of the World Conference: Being Salt & Light: Friends Living the Kingdom of God in a Broken World. (I did know, because I participated in some of the earliest ones in the Pacific Northwest and later in Philadelphia and the Midwest, that they would be profound experiences of sharing and deepening our Quaker faith.)
