Thinking about end of year giving?
Thank you

Greetings!

As you read this, I am nearing the end of two weeks among Friends in Peru and Bolivia. I was delighted to have been here for the Golden Anniversary of Iglesia Nacional Evangélica Los Amigos (INELA) de Peru - celebrating 50 years as an independent yearly meeting. I have also worshiped and spent time with friends in Iglesia Evangélica Unión Boliviana Amigos (IEUBA), the newest yearly meeting affiliated with FWCC.

I am traveling with Jeff Keith, a member of the Section's Executive Committee, and two young women, one from Iowa Yearly Meeting (FUM) and one from New England Yearly Meeting, who both received grants from FWCC to assist with their visitation among Friends in Latin America. We joined a group of Friends from Northwest Yearly Meeting, just a few of the many people who attended INELA Peru's celebrations.

Please hold all of us in the Light so that FWCC's presence among Friends here will continue to help build bridges of understanding and love.

In friendship,

Robin Mohr

World Conference study book now online
"As every corner of the globe faces economic, political and environmental turmoil, we ask ourselves how our small an diverse community can live its faith so that God's love and purpose for the Earth - the Good News - can be made known to the whole world."  - introduction to the Study Booklet for the Sixth World Conference of Friends

WC logoWith contributions from more than 40 Friends from around the globe, this booklet offers a rich exploration of the theme "Being Salt and Light: Friends living the kingdom of God in a broken world." The booklet contains the extracts from longer pieces, which can all be found on the World Conference website.

It is hoped that Friends will gather into small study groups - face-to-face and in other ways - to explore together their responses to the texts and the queries. The hope is that, by dwelling on texts that may be challenging, Friends will broaden their understanding, deepen their spiritual insights and practice opening their hearts and minds to God's leadings.

Download the Study Booklet at no charge, or order a hard copy for a fee. The booklet, in English, will soon be available in additional languages.

Still thinking about attending the World Conference in one of the open places? Now is the time to decide. For more information click here.
Thinking about end-of-year giving?
Under the 2010 Tax Relief Act Law an individual over the age of 70 1/2 may exclude from gross income up to $100,000 in contributions made directly from his or her individual retirement account (IRA) to a qualified charitable organization. This provision was extended through December 31, 2011.

Friends considering making a contribution from their IRA should consult with a tax professional or attorney. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about making a gift from your IRA to Friends World Committee for Consultation this year.
